So, inspection is rolling around in august- I've got a connection but do I take a chance?
only my driver/pass front windows are 35% legal tint for MA...
I have a connection that would guarantee me a pass a new sticker for $29+ ~20$ tip.
I could save myself the trouble of worrying and just go this route- or I can try to get by without the 20$ tip at my local Mobil.
The guy at Mobil recognizes me, as I bring the whole family's cars there to be inspected- but he is a pain at times and forced me to get a new wiper because of a 1 inch tear on the passenger side wiper- or else get a rejection.
Being an avant, there are on occasion (like SUV's) to make it seem like the rear tint came oem, as oem tint on SUV's are basically like limo privacy glass... All in all..
does anyone know if you are rejected for the tint, will they still make you pay the 29$? (I've heard yes's and no's for this answer), and also, I read in the C5 forum that in NC they stick you in the database if you're failed for tint and you cannot receive a new sticker until the tint is removed...
Anyone in MA have any experience with this??
TIA.

Go with the guaranteed pass, it's not worth the hassle of running around.
As far as NC, I've never heard of a database blackmark for failing due to tint.
The electronic portion of our state inspection is just to check for emissions, fault codes, and log mileage if I remember right.

I believe they'll put an "R" sticker and you have X amount of days to fix the problem before you can
pass. You pay the $29 for the inspection but get a free re-inspection (by law) when you fix the issue cited.

yes, you'll still pay for a rejection
then if you go to the guaranteed pass station, you'll have to pay again. if you take it back to the original station, you don't have to pay.

The only way you don't need to pay
is if they tell you before you pull in that you won't pass so don't bother. I went without a front plate and the guy said don't bother, you won't pass. Go with the sure thing for $20 more.

All the times I got rejected for tint I didn't pay the $29.
I had 3% limo tint I bought on a car from florida (was planning on taking it off anyways... couldnt see anything) and bringing it in for inspection they pulled the meter out instantly and said bring it back with new tint. this was at 3 or 4 different places...
Another thing is that Mobil guy could sell you a new wiper and make some money... He might not care about the tint because he can't sell you new tint. :-P
