Default Bay Area BT: Suggestions on where to goof off for a few hours tomorrow..

I have to go to bay area tomorrow for a conference.

Conference is at the Marriott in San Mateo and is over at 3pm.

My flight doesn't leave until 10pm.

Any suggestions as to goof off for a few hours and a recommendation for a good sushi/thai place.

TIA.

Default I've eaten there several times and have never been impressed.

perhaps I'm not ordering the right stuff. Should I eat at the sushi bar and eat whatever Sam suggests?

Default Have to say we've never used the menu - just asked for stuff off the board behind

the bar - prepared as they wish (omakase). No need to sit at the bar - just note what is there and tell the server your preferences. The fish is flown in from Japan weekly.

If you like rolls and complex items, then Sam's is not your place. The fish is the focus. Copper River salmon on fat ***** of rice, topped with slivers of shaved onion, splashed with a hint of ponzu. Special trout seared with a blowtorch for a microscopic hint of char on just the tips, which melds perfectly with the mild favour of the rare fish underneath.

My apologies if this is the tactic you have used, and it was not for you.
