Help Me Pick... Next Car Purchase/Lease
Ok, I've narrowed it down to three choices. As much as I'd like a B5 S4, twin turbos sounds like hell of a maintenance issue, especially how hard I drive.
So, I've narrowed it down to:
2002-2003 A4 1.8T - 16k to 20k (Purchase Used, Craigslist, eBay)
Mods I'd Install: APR Stage 1+, Tint, Exhaust
2001-2002 TT Coupe, 1.8T - 12k to 16k (I love the idea of a small sports car that's only big enough for my girlfriend and myself)
Mods I'd Install: APR Chip, Tint
2005 A3 2.0T w/FSI and DSG - Leased - I really - really- love this car. DSG blows me away, and the utility combined with a new bodystyle is just fantastic. I know it's minor too - but, I really love the new generation steering wheel. Options? Open Sky, Nav. That's it...
Mods: Exhaust, Tint - Chip too risky?
I realize these cars seem very different. I'm ready to move on though, if anyone has any pro's or con's of each, I'd love to hear them.
Also, why are 2001 TT's so damn cheap?

If maintenance is a big issue, buy the new vehicle. Audi warranty will take care of you, but why
the 2.0T. I test drove the 3.2 DSG this week and it was great. The normally aspirated motor should be much less of a maintenance issue. A3 s-line quattro all the way.

Here's your answer then..if he's getting it, then definitely don't!
This is how I see it. You're making money now, but you're still in school etc..so you can blow it away as long as you get your education and maintain growth in your career etc so that when it comes time to live on your own, you can afford a house, buy a car equal to your current purchase (hopefully better) etc.
If you're not going a3 because your dad will, got for the lightest car out there with the 1.8t out of those choices.
Then, in a year, buy the new CORRADO!! VW is still VAG! ;-)
