I'm not so sure that does give them the right to search under the hood.
Last attorney I spoke with told me not to agree to having the car searched..She had been a DA for a county up north for awhile, but we were really speaking about a slightly different reason why the police were wanting to search the car so this may not apply.

I guess refusal allows them to escalate.
I was speaking to the lawyer about (hypothetcally speaking of course) the police suspecting drugs in the car. Rufusal to search then forces them to call the dogs to see if the dog gets a "hit" which then gives them the ability to enter the car. A car with graphics should not be cause for stoppage.
