Default 5KT HP limits

I just bought a 1982 5000 turbo today. The engine is going into a 4000Q as soon as I find one. My question is: how many HP can the 1982 5000 turbo injection system handle? I don't care about mechanical mods. This engine will be mechanically modified before I install it. The turbo will be upgraded, I will have en intercooler, etc. All I need to know is how much can the CIS handle?

Default Should be way over 400hp...

I researched this last year, almost bought APR's unused prepped and caged 4000Q chassis and dumped a built 5KT engine into it.

They are pretty stout engines and there are plenty of durable hardware, fueling and software parts out there.

There was a green 4KQ that was raced in the NASA series (won the unlimited championship) that had a CIS in it. He was running around 450hp in that thing. It is a shame I let it pass by as it sold for $9k on Ebay.

Really?! 400 HP for the unchippable 1982 CIS? I know the engine can take it, but the CIS can really supply that much fuel? Wow!

What is the stock CR for the 1982 5KT?

I know _lots_ about VW tuning, but now I have a whole new field to learn.

Is there a section on Audi World dedicated to stats I can read about this stuff?

Default Careful...

I don't doubt the ability for the mechanicals to be able to handle 400+ hp given proper tuning. However, I do not believe that the stock fueling system is capable of delivering fuel sufficient for this power lever without some sort of upgrade. I am not very familiar with the 5cyl engines or cis so I may be wrong, however check out audifans if you haven't already. I am sure they will be able to answer any on your questions if they haven't already been discussed in the archives.

http://www.audifans.com</a

Haltech? Cool.

I just talked to SDS. They do make a system for 5-cylinders, so I will definitely use that. I already have SDS on my Fox (RIP), and now my Scirocco, so I am familiar with it, and cannot begin to describe how satisfied I am.
