anyway to change gear ratio?
I own a 90 coupé quattro 5 cyl 20v.
I'd like to lowering my rpm specialy in 5th gear.
Does anybody know if a can find different gears or differentails ratio in other model tranny that would fit and do the job. Or maybe a 6 speed kit is available like in vw.

the A4 1.8t has the same problem...
75mph runs around 3400rpm. with a 3.889 final drive. iirc there is a 3.55 final drive to fit A4. so i don't think you should have any problem finding lower ratio for your car.

Re: the A4 1.8t has the same problem...
The CQ runs just under 4k rpm at 80mph with a redline at 7200rpm, and fuel cut-off by 7500rpm. Final drive is 4.11, with a 5th gear ratio of 0.838.
I wouldn't mess with the gear ratios in the CQ, as it would make a slow car slower. Not like we can just get a chip, or a new turbo to help with the power side of things. Then there is how to mount the rear diff (different case for the CQ than for the A4 and even B4 quattros), and what prop shaft to use.
If you want to keep the acceleration of the CQ and lower the cruising RPM, then get the 6spd 01E from the S2 or RS2. Still has 4.11's, and the ratios are a teensy bit longer in 1, 2, and 3, but longer in 4 and 5, and adds a 0.730 6th gear. You wouldn't hit 4k rpm until just before 100mph. Those transmissions run anywhere from 2k to 5k, plus linkage, mounts, front drive shafts, and proper S2 prop shaft.
