Default bad maf, no better with new one installed

Hey all, I've got a 2005 tt 180hp automatic. The thing idles to the point of stalling with the MAF sensor plugged in, and when it has it unplugged it idles fine. I replaced the MAF with a brand new bosch and im still having the same problem. no dash lights or anything, what else could it be?
