Default Fuse it

For what you want, it is indeed the proper way to do it.

Default I don't get your point.

Are you saying that if the fuse blows during an accident the airbag won't deploy?

If the fuse is properly sized (which was the whole point of my original post), it will only blow if there is a short...if there is a short, the airbag wouldn't deploy anyway.

If someone were going to use the "airbag not deploying" argument, I would suggest that the battery should not be relocated in the first place. Relocating the battery does introduce additional points of failure (12' of additional wire & a battery in an arguably more vulnerable position in case of accident).

I would argue that the "airbag argument" would be a better argument against relocating the battery than it would be against using a fuse on a relocated battery.

Default I am. There was no question in my mind from the beginning.

I'm just trying to understand why someone would suggest not fusing it...and I certainly understand your point.

Default there you go. getting farther than the articles you've read arent ya

now, what if the short was instanteneous, blowing your fuse immedately but could have saved a life or 2 because the SRS, ABS system was still powered after a temporary short?

*sigh* 'getting there

Default Sorry, you're not "getting there" at all.

Give me an article or a real personal experience not your personal speculation. You make light of my "articles" but fail to provide ANYTHNIG at all to support what you are saying. I have found dozens of "articles" saying to install a fuse but strangely enough, your posts are the only things I've seen that argue against it. Sure, there are a lot of people that don't use a fuse, but I have yet to see a shred of information that says it is actually bad to do so.
-------------------------

Your airbag scenario is highly unlikely. What would cause this instantaneous short? The accident? Well if that's the case, from what I understand about the operation of airbags, they deploy so quickly that they would deploy before any short or blown fuse would occur. Furthermore, given that the battery is located in the rear of the car, the likelihood of being in an accident that would cause the fuse to blow and the airbags to deploy is relatively slim.

Besides, the particular car that I am relocating the battery in doesn't even have an airbag to begin with.

If you are going to keep coming up with your unsupported by reality hypothetical situations and continue to "talk down" to me, I'd rather end this thread right now.

If however, you can come up with a valid argument based on a real-world scenario and factual information, please continue.

Default =) we're done, thanks for playing. just put the damn fuse in

for someone looking to employ a fuse (some kind of insurance) why would you be sticking to 'personal experiences'. i am introducing scenarios to you as a regular motorist, not claiming that i'm smarter than those article's authors. AGAIN, i am not arguing against your sources, i am not arguing against your sources, i am not arguing against your sources and i do not feel the need to stress any compelling reason for my opinion, which again is not intended to negate your sources opinion. if my inputs are weightless then let it be. thank you for understanding

question: do you see that on a rally car things arent so weather-proof so squidix there has corrosion problems that you'll unlikely encounter?

question: are you still moving your battery?
question: any particular reason youre moving it?
opinion: articles are opinions.
opinion: heavy duty cables require real good shears
opinion: in a major accident, its possible your plastic box will just shatter toppling your battery with both its terminal shorting

peace.
