Default There are people using the GIAC X chip on a tiptronic S4 and A6.

So I am pretty sure the tip can handle any of the other chips.

Default widely discussed on A6 board re: 2.7T. mixed (and strong) opinions

one theory is "it's fine, that lots of people are running it and having no problem, and that the mfr. torque ratings are very conservative."

one theory is that "ZF rates the 5 HP 24 at max torque of 310 ft/lbs, and some chips exceed this, and that a number of people have reported problems."

link below is to some interesting doc on these ZF transmissions hinting that they manipulated torque ratings by shortening the time required at load during the testing process. this would tend to explain the 2 different experiences above: some people put high loads on them for longer durations than others - like maybe it's fine as long as you aren't tracking or drag racing your car for hours at a time.

a final theory is that if you chip the tip transmission, the firmer shifts are actually better for it's longevity. (this happens to be the theory that i'm operating under with a supercharged 2.8 (295hp))

ZF auto trans
