How wide a tire can you install on a 16x7 wheel?
I am lookin for a set of tires for a 16 x 7 wheel. These wheels and tires are gonna be used to autocross in. I have a 2003 A4 1.8T which comes with 235-45-17 tires stock. I am concerned that the wheels I have might not be wide enough.....or is it fine?
Here are my choices of tires.
1) Hankook Ventus H405
2) Yokohama Parada Spec 2
3) Falken GRB FK 451
4) Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712
5) Toyo Proxes Fz4
Which would be my best choice?

225 is probably max
Just take a look at the approved "Rim Width Range" specs for the tires you're considering. For the Kumho 712, I don't see anything wider than 225 on a 7" wheel.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires%2FSpec.jsp%3Fmake%3DK umho%26amp%3Bmodel%3DECSTA%2BSupra%2B712">Kumho 712 Specs from Tirerack</a></li></ul>
