Default I have a socketable chip and I want to put my stock chip back in

I bought a 00A4 1.8T used last month and the fellow I bought the car from already put a socketable chip in the car.

I want to take the car to the dealer for maintenance and want to put the stock chip back in. I've removed the ECU and taken the modified chip out. How do I know which way the stock chip goes back in? I noticed a little recessed circle in the corner of each chip and made sure that the stock chip had the little circle in the same spot as the modified one, however is this the correct way to do it?
