I modified mine
When I received my RK2, I couldn't read the shift pattern engraving well. Not that I don't know where the gears are, but still wanted it visible.
I got some dark red model paint and a fine brush. I painted in the numbers and pattern with 3-4 coats letting it dry well. Once all the way dry, I placed the medallion upside-down onto a flat piece of very fine sandpaper and lightly moved it in a sworling pattern. Now it has a random scuffed surface rather than concentric machine marks, but looks great and is much more visible, not to mention very cheap.

Re: uhh why did you sand it like that?
I sanded it that way because you cannot keep the paint completely in the small engraving grooves. Some is going to slop onto the flat surface. It seemed the best way to gently remove the unwanted paint from the surface. I tried to grab the gate left over on the back from the casting or machining with my drill to spin it instead, but could not get a good grip.
Sorry, no pics right now. Need to get a digital camera soon. I will eventually post once pics available.
