question about stock A4 IC piping
my question pertains to the stock IC piping that wraps around the front end of the car (going from the IC to the turbo hose). Is it welded to the frame or can I drop it off the car?
this is for a 2001

It's part of the frame....
it basically connects the two frame rails together. It's bolted on, the radiator support needs to come off first.
Why would you want to remove it? You could probably cut the ends off, if they are in the way.

the reason why is...
I had to cut the pipe going to the turbo hose for my recent SPR FMIC install. If I ever want to go back to the stock IC for whatever reason, I'm wondering how I'll connect the hose. I guess I could just get a piece welded onto the exsiting pipe.

Also on the TT180Q...a very universal piece for audi...lol
I was thinking of cutting the tube off and running a full 3'' intake.
What a bitch trying to make it 3'' without going to 2.5''. I may have to bend the 3'' tubing in a cetain area.
What do you think running 2 separate 2'' tubes and mating it into 3'' right before the turbo?
Some filters got 2 holes for this purpose I guess.

Mine's a full 3" intake, but it's mounted real low....
It does have it's benefits, air gets to it easily, it's away from the turbo, and it's short in length.
I think I'm going to get one of the pre-charger things from K&N. That should help a lot.

I'm not sure how well two 2" tubes would work. the joint from the t tubes to one would have to be real smooth, and shaped right or it might disrupt the flow, which might affect the MAF readings.
Seems like it might be more work than putting in 3" tubing.
