Here..
Rev to around 3-4K then release the clutch at the friction point. It is kinda hard to explain. You can't dump the clutch cuz it will bog, and if you let the clutch out too slowly and rev it to high, your clutch will slip. Then again you can rev your car to 6K and drop the clutch, I am sure it won't bog, but I will not be responsible when you break something.
When I race around town (not saying that I condone this behavior) I pull up to a light and hold it right around 3-4K then when the light changes I slowly release the clutch right at the friction point. You know you have done it right when your revs go straight up and dont dip too much. But then again if you leave your clutch in you revs will go straight up with a nice odor. The rest of the gears I just hold the gas pedal ( I don't let up), bump the clutch and slam through gears.
Usually when I race my friend around town he just dumps the clutch in his car (Civic Si), he gets on it faster, but you will pull away cuz when he dumps it, he is spinning the tires, and you are actually moving. I do the same when I take my car too the track. Hope this helps. No flames please...this is how I drive...and had gotten me decent 1/4 mile times. Hope this helps.

Re: Here..
After reading this, i went out and tried it. Works like a charm, although i gotta practice to get the hang of it, Pretty much, you ease out on the clutch and when it starts to grab you just let it on out, right?? once i think i barely barked all 4 tires, didn't mean to, but it happens. Thanks for you're help, My last car was a Greddy turbocharged Civic so I know where you're friend is coming from.

to launch by any means. But you will get the hang out it sooner or later. Glad to be of help.

p.s. Turbocharged civic is fast, but now you are driving a real car. =) One without a lawnmower engine in it....lol....I always bag on my friend and say his car is a lawnmower..it's all good.
