Pure platinum warranty and Audi care select
Since I drive a lot, I already out 46000 miles in 2.5 years. That means I already used my 45000 service they Audi care. I'll reach 50000 mile way before 5 years.
I just spoke to the finance manager from the dealership and he quoted me the following. Is it worth getting the pure platinum warranty, and the Audi care select?
Audi care select for 55000 and 65000 miles for $699. This has to paid in full. He said if I didn't have it, I'd probably pay double this price.
I was told that the pure platinum warranty covers everything the new vehicle warranty covered. Price as follows. I didn't list the year it's good till since the mileage would come first anyway. I have to put 15% down and can go up to 24 months at 0% interest.
• up to 100,000 miles for $2998, no deductible
• up to 120,000 miles for $3290, $250 deductible

Audi Care Select - This only makes sense if your model has extensive maintence in that time period. Check the Audi maint schedule. If its just a couple of oil changes it is not worth it. For my A4 Im planning to get the 75/85 package because it will cover tranmission fluid, spark plugs, brake fluid change within that timeframe which is even price competitive with a good Audi specialist prices.
Warranty - I would say this is just too costly for 3 grand. You could probably get anything major fixed on your Q3 for around $4k max. (used engine replacement, etc) The Q3 is nearly idenitical to the Tiguan and shares many components with other VW engines/drivetrains - which makes it easier and cheaper to repair. (Sourcing parts and a good market for capable mechanics). Also since it sounds like you drive a lot of highway miles - this is VERY easy on the vehicle - engine, transmission, etc. So I think you are pretty safe without a warranty. Just research good shops in your area to plan ahead.
