I would say the smart key option is more popular with the ladies than the guys. My wife loves it because she doesnt have to fish thru her purse for the keys. Me, personally, I can take it or leave it. I have no problem with getting the keys out of my pocket and that start buttom is cool at 1st but no big deal after a while. The two biggest advantage for me is that no key jiggling noise when going to rough road since there is no key hanging in the ignition and I dont have to give my keys to another driver if we change driver.

The sole reason I wanted the advanced key is that I was not a fan of my other keys attached to the main fob bouncing all over the dash. I had visions of a nicely carved arc in the plastic by the 3rd year of ownership. Besides, I usually keep my keys in my briefcase so it's very convenient now that I'm getting use to it. I never did like the feeling of keys in my suit pocket, too bulky screws up the hang of the suit.

Our 2008 Q7 4.2 was only available(in the US)with the Premium Package including "smart" key, which I was prepared to hate. Sales person suggested just ignoring the system and using the key normally, but I gave it a fair try and was immediately converted. Only thing to be aware of when two drivers and keys are involved is not ending up in the car without a key; the car will continue to run but once shut off will not restart. Fortunately there is a prominent warning icon displayed when the key is not in the car. Love the system and would definitely opt for it on the next car.

Really should be a standalone option, I would have gotten it in a heartbeat.

Prestige just doesn't make sense as a value proposition unless you're going all out and want to add things to the prestige that aren't available with P+ (like ADS, luxury package). A "base" Prestige with no other options is a ripoff IMHO (which is why I went with a loaded P+ instead).
