Default APR flash, any limitations?

Anyone have experience with the APR flash? If so, are there any limitations we should be aware of? Doesn't have to be specific to the Q5.

I drive my wife's old B7 A4 and coming from a G37S, it's downright painful at times (I do have to say the ride and steering is far more smooth/comfortable though). Thinking of the APR flash and wondering what happens if I plug in a vag com and reset the computer, does it reset to the factory flash? Any other issues to be worried about?

Sorry, I'm much more active on the Q5 forum since we just bought my wife one and thought I'd ask you experts.

Thanks

I'm interested in this as well and will keep an eye on this thread.

I just came from a G35 coupe and would love to do a reflash and get some extra umph on the low RPM range. At first I was only considering Stasis because I can get it done at the dealership and you get the warranty. But, I almost think it would be better to do the APR and not even tell the dealership that the ECU has been reflashed. I can just see my dealership and Stasis arguing a specific issue and pointing fingers. Plus, it's like half the cost.

What happens if there is an ECU software update done by Audi in the future? Does that erase an APR reflash? Do VAG mods get affected at all?

Thanks and sorry to hijack and add questions.

I have a bit of exprience with the APR flash from a 2007 Audi A4 (B7?). Firstly, I loved it. It transformed the car into the sporty car it should have been out of the factory.

I had the car flashed at about 500 miles and kept it for about 40,000 miles. Totally trouble free with the added "advantage" of attracting the attention of cops, and a great benefit of reducing my fuel consumption by about 3 MPG in mixed general driving.

My dealership is very chip/flash friendly and they knew of the flash. Anyway, if you have an engine problem, the onus is upon the dealer to prove that the chip caused the problem. APR I believe will assist anyway in a situation like that.

The beauty about the APR offering is that you can remove it at any time. It is even transferable to another engine of a similar type for a small fee. The installation is done on a trail basis for two weeks and then when you pay, the installer will activate it permanently. It does appear as if the software sits on top of the standard software rather than replacing it.

If by some reason the flash is overwritten, it will cost you a small amount to have it reflashed.

Have a look at this page for some more answers: http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_up...sivl_long.html

This is the first time that I saw that the flash is available for the Q5... Guess what am I going to do this weekend
