Default Auto Air recirculation

Dear Q5 owners,

Does anyone know about the auto air recirculation in the Q5? How do you know if it works? Does it actually detect bad air outside and turns on the air recirculation automatically when I set it to "on"?

Part of dual-zone climate control, this sensor measures pollution in the outside air. If predetermined limits are exceeded – for example, when driving through a tunnel – the climate control system switches to the recirculated-air mode and thus prevents polluted air from degrading air quality inside the car.

Found that on Audi website. Not much info. Wonder if it detects dead skunk smell before the whole cabin smells like my dogs farts. LOL

Not that I know of. I had smells of dead skunks in the cabin before for which I assumed it went into auto recirculation mode, but it didn't....

Audi doesn't say what actually triggers the recirc, just a preset limit of something, maybe carbon monocide?

I feel you there. We have two Boston Terriers, and a French Bulldog, and each of them could win an award for the stench that comes out of them. Every once in a while one will pass gas so hard it startles even them LOL.
