Default Brake caliper cleaning

Winter is almost over here and I would like to restore the finish of my brake calipers. Any tip? I don't want to paint them.

There are brake cleaning sprays but if the caliper is corroded some then painting is your only solution. You may need to wash the brakes more often in winter if there is a lot of salt on the road

I can certainly understand that you don't want to paint them but I believe it's the only solution when they're that far gone. Buy a Duplicolor caliper paint kit. It's amazingly easy.

Are they aluminum? They have a clear coat or some kind of protective coating?

They get pitted, rusted and corroded if not painted.

Just clean them off, and paint them silver with the high-temp caliper paint if you want to keep the OEM look.

That's pretty much your only choice to get them looking good again.

That's a good looking job on your calipers. They look like they're much easier to keep clean.

Was that done DIY with the calipers on the vehicle? If so, was it spray on or brush-on?

+1 Would also like to know if you painted them while mounted on the car. Thanks.

Looks good. Did you remove the calipers before painting?

I think the front caliper is pretty straigh froward howver I read somewhere that a VAG cable is needed for the rear. Is it possible to do it without the cable? Info will be appreciated.
