thanks DRV and KLEINBUS for the extra info. I will give it another try. Though, the car without NAV MMI does not have these human figurines and arrows ;-) looks a bit different and will try to figure it out.

Guys, you are helpful as as always... and you know more than AUDI employees. I can not believe it that AUDI guys do not know this!!!! Seriously, if one of my clients knew more about my products .... wow!

Okay, I have warm air coming out of the vents. The trick was to turn of AUTO and set all 3 (up-middle-down).

I intended "all 3 (up-middle-down)"
BTW : I'm now retired and live alternatively near Brussels and at the sea coast, that's one of the reasons I choosed for a Q5 (we're moving al lot a luggage each time we switch ! The Q5 helps..)

I found out that the rear air vents work in conjunction with the front middle vents, so if the rear passengers need warm air, you have to make a selection that includes the middle vents for that to happen - a bit of a drag to say the least.
