Certificate of Conformity
Hello,
I am from Vancouver Canada, and I am thinking to get the 2015 Q5. There is a chance I may move down to California or Seattle for work next year. If that is really the case, then I will need to import my car to USA.
Just wondering if there is any difference between the Canadian Q5 and the USA Q5. I have been asking the certificate of conformity from my dealership and they said I cannot have it until I bought the car.
I am wondering if any modification is needed on the Canadian Q5 to make it compliant with the USA regulation.
Thanks

What is legal in the US often is not sufficient in California.
I'd suggest asking Audi (US & Canada) if the Canadian version is California-legal, not just "US" legal. And then contact the US DOT to ask what import certification or changes may be needed.
And then again, for Washington state and their DOT.
Cars here used to be sold as "California legal" versus "49 state legal". You want specifics from the agencies that issue the rules, not internet advice on this one. Remember, the rules are also subject to CHANGE at least once every year.

When I moved to California from Ottawa, I had an '04 Acura Integra, and it actually had a '50 State emissions' sticker under the hood. I needed to go to a special Star Smog place and have that 50 state sticker and I was good to go.

All Audis/VWs imported into NA are now 50-state compliant, meeting the stringent California emission standards that are required in all Pacific coast states (CA, OR, WA as well as NY, MA, etc.). But it might be cheaper to buy in US as others as stated.
