Electric Steering Buzzing?
Hey Guys,
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a slight buzzing noise when turning the steering wheel? I was in a parking lot and had my stereo off and noticed that when I turn my wheel I could hear and actually slightly feel the buzzing of the electric steering.
I'm wondering if this is normal...
Cheers,
Rick

I'm sorry to hear that man. Unfortunately, I am on the same boat as well. It's really discomforting when turning the steering wheel and I do not think it is normal at all. Shortly after I parked the car, I even felt some grinding noise coming from the dashboard area so it was probably the engine. Really displeased with the host of problems from a brand new 2013 q5 3.0. Problems include moonroof rattle, trunk rattle (partially fixed with felt lining), and now this steering bull**** and the engine grinding noise. Audi needs to work on their quality control desperately. I'm going in for the third time to the dealers and hopefully they fix everything...it's starting to get ridiculous.

My steering issue
I have uploaded a video to youtube. this is my actual car. I decided to record this video after I had absolutely had it with the problems this audi has given me. Notice both the steering zipping noise AND the grinding noise coming from the engine.

Yep thats the sound. Mine is more intermittent - turn it's quiet and then the sound. I haven't experienced the notchiness (yet) that some are reporting, but I'm wondering if this is where it starts.
I'm sorry to hear about all of your issues. I would be very frustrated too.
I'm wondering if others have this issue too, as you said I can't see this being normal.

Don't have any of it as far as I can tell, but I might be just deaf after years of listening to Metallica and such I probably shouldn't have said that, now everything will rattle like crazy
On the other hand in my 2012 Q5 the steering pump whistled and I could hear that.
Rattles are very difficult to fix. My 2003 Passat rattled from the very begging and after many, many trips to multiple dealerships I fixed it myself the best I could and learned to live with it. Hated that rattle ...
