First Long Road Trip-13 days-3200 miles
Took first long road trip over 13 days from So Cal to Tahoe/Truckee, on to Ketchum/Sun Valley, Stanley and Boise Idaho, and across Oregon to Bend and Grant's Pass and down Hwy 5 though Nor Cal back to LA. 3200 plus miles in total.
A few observations:
1. The car is super comfy on the road and 8+ hours of driving is easy. Could have driven 12 hours a day, no problem.
2.Car really wants to open up at 90 mph, had a hard time keeping within speed limits of 65-70 MPH. Only got one ticket for 80 in a 70 MPH zone.
3. Average fuel consumption was 21.5 MPG per onboard trip comuter, did not bother to confirm, with speeds from 90+ mph to 25 mph on twisty mountian roads.
4. Sport mode works really well on winding twisty uphill/downhill sections. I am sure there is a fuel consumption penalty but the control and handling felt very good in sport mode both uphill and down.
4. No unusual oil consumption.
I could not find anything to complain about, and even the wife felt the same way. Validates the decision to purchase the Q5 as both a great touring vehicle, in addition to a daily driver.

Yup, the Q5 is a great drive on twisting, curving roads. Sport mode is indeed very good in those situations - don't need to manually shift that much. The car's does keep that lower gear on downhill grades very well. That's quite a trip you took! Maybe the next purchase is a radar detector? Any pics?
