As for the rear hatch, I've owned this Q5 for 5 weeks now, and as I sit in the driver's seat with the car running, dropping people off who have stuff in the back, I'm still having to yell to them "you have to push the button on the rear hatch to close it. I can't do that from up here." It's already old. And truth be told, its somewhat of an embarrassment that a vehicle of this class "can't do that." I actually had one teen-ager say "You mean you can't do it?" To which I sheepishly replied, "No, it only closes from the button."
