Yep. Remember sea vessels are not cars, and travel time depends a lot on conditions at sea - weather, storms, wind direction, etc..

The ship tracking on these sites only works when the vessel is close to land. The free user tracking uses land based AIS.

You have to pay $$ to access satellite based AIS. Here at work we have access to satellite AIS.

the ship is now S of the grand banks south of NFLD as of 13016Z 7 jun 2016

Yeah, the satellite data costs quite a bit to get access to (I would expect), so it's reasonable for the tracking sites to pass the cost along (it'd be companies that would need that level of tracking, and presumably it's cheaper than getting their own access from whomever all actually owns the satellite data). Cool that you've got access, though, makes things nicer than "well, it's somewhere in the Atlantic, and it looks like it usually takes X days from Ireland to Halifax so it's probably Y days out".

You think someone interested where it is ship with yours car ???

It should perhaps introduce new thread: tracking ship with vehicle. We may have a few hundred or thousands of posts if anyone's interested

Give him a break. He's super excited as his new shiny car is getting closer and closer to him. I was in his shoes just this past winter and memories of that period are still very fresh

Been there, done that! Very Exciting! It was nice to see the output of the satellite tracking. I had previously only seen the land based data.

I have a VIN and order from Audi. Trying to track an order. Was told that the ship to RI would be in a week ago and it is still "in transit". How can I tell what ship the car is on?
