Yes...you have to do it from the passenger's side.

You can code the car to lock with the key fob with the engine running using OBDeleven or VCDS.

You're right, that backstabbing product of demented engineering refused to let me lock the car with the engine running. Refused to let me lock the doors with the inside button, until the driver's door was closed. (Didn't test the other doors.) Refused to let me lock it with the outside handle button while running.

Makes me want to find a good programmer, who can give this thing a lobotomy and a real RESET button, so the car just says "YES SIR!" and jumps when and as ordered to, without debating the issues.
