Default Oil Fumes through HVAC Vents when stopped - Fixed

Was getting oil fumes through HVAC vents when stopped or in slow traffic. At first made believe it was another vehicle a head of me but reality sunk in it was my vehicle. Was turning off HVAC or hitting Recirc when coming to a stop if I remembered in time.
No CEL, no codes and the car ran fine no misses or roughness or leaks. Original PCV since an early recall when the car was almost new, 83K miles now.
Was going to change out the PCV with the OEM part on Amazon for $103 (Dealer gets $200 for the part).
At the last second I saw that you could change out just the diaphragm assembly made by Dorman available at Advance Auto parts website (for $26 with a discount and tax) with many great reviews. Part looked identical to the OEM part except not brittle and no hole.
Diaphragm on the car was ripped and brittle. Replaced (took 5 minutes), no fumes and runs smoother especially when the engine is cold and quieter too.

Glad to hear you could solve it so cheap. May I ask what engine and MY your car is? Thanks.

Just a word of caution on this. I'm not an Audi PCV valve design engineer, but there have been a few PCV recalls and upgrades. Some of the recalls required a new PCV valve to lower internal engine pressures and needed a recoding of the ECU unit. Again not being the design engineer, I believe that the pressure settings are regulated by that diaphragm and spring. There have also been PCV valve upgrades to reduce internal pressure that was blowing rear main oil seals (expensive to fix) and causing excessive oil burning.. It just doesn't seem logical to just pop in a "fit all" diaphragm kit and hope that it doesn't cause other issues as blown rear oil seals. Now if the diaphragm kit has nothing to do with regulating the internal engine pressure then this is the best, easest, and cheapest way to go.

My 2014, 2.0T had a PCV recall to actually increase the internal engine pressure and required an ECU recoding to do so.

Bob, your words are always well appreciated. The Gen 1 Ea888 has a really weak spring and a large diaphragm area so it looks to be about .1 - .2 PSI or so.
Think we are good this time around. Not sure if this is the same part as would be used on Gen II or newer.
Only a tiny tear on the old one and some very strong fumes. Maybe if the tear was bigger there would have been code(s)
