Default Pricing help

I am eligible for a $1000 "friends and family" discount and a $1500 loyalty discount. Any chance of getting more than that off the sticker price? Can you get a Q5 at invoice price?

Nego your price and then the loyalty discount would apply and I would think f&f should as well. Those discounts are from the manufacturer. Good starting point is to look at pricing in your area from Amex zag and Costco. Depending on where you live the lowest I've seen (NJ) was 200 over invoice.

Depends if you are ordering. I found you have more leverage if you order the car since you can use any dealer for that. Finding one in inventory isn't much leverage b/c they sell quick (and there probably isn't another Q5 with those same specs nearby). Another big factor is how many dealerships are in your area.

Don't let the loyalty discount factor into your negotiations. You get that no matter the deal you get. So....your question should be can I get more than $1,000 off MSRP.

I just ordered mine a few weeks ago and got $1,710 off MSRP (then the $1,500 loyalty).

Try Truecar.com and see if any local dealerships give good internet pricing. In my case, there was a local one giving 3% off MSRP and another local one beat it by a little to earn my business.

It looks like on Truecar I can get about $1300 off sticker price. So basically I should negotiate that and then bring up the extra $2500?

I wouldnt use the loyalty as part of the negotiation. Just bring it up after you come to an agreement.

So...start with that internet pricing and go from there. See if you can piggyback that $1000 F&F but don't know if you'll get that. (Is that a dealer special or Audi special?).

I'm assuming its just something from the Dealer to get you in the door so they won't give you another $1,000 on top of truecar.com...but I would certainly try. If you can get $1,300 + $1,000, then you will be awful close to invoice.

Be sure to talk to the dealer about all fees during your negotiating so they cant add fees after you come to a price. They add all sorts of fees like Dealer Prep, title transfer fees, etc. Also...make sure you factor in the regional ad fee that is on the dealer invoice sheet.

Here is my thread about my purchase experience: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2811653

My dealer mandates a $629 dealer prep fee so I just made sure that my "final price" included that fee. So, actually, I got the car for $328 over invoice and then their stupid prep fee.

Anyways...moral of the story....learn about all the fees and have that included during your negotiations. Nothing worse than feeling the high of agreeing to a price and then the low of feeling ripped by a lot of fees.

Good luck!!

I don't know if you can combine it with other offers or discounts, but I think the best price to be had right now is on the 2011 loaner models. These are the Q5s offered to owners to use temporarily when they bring their cars in for service. Technically these are "used" vehicles because the title has been registered by the dealer, but if you buy such a model you will be the first individual owner. Those loaner cars are allowed to go up to 6000k miles before they are pulled out of loaner service and sold as used. you can get one with 4-6K miles on it.

One of my local dealers had about 6 of them on the lot. All were premium plus models.

The friends discount is just a dealer thing since I do know the owner. My deal was 2500 off and a carseat thrown in for the new baby(we has been discussing brands!). I just don't know if I can push for lower or not. The other cars I was looking at can sell even under invoice but I know the Audi is in demand.

If they are including the loyalty in that $2,500 off...then I think you can do a little better. Again...depends on inventory in your area and if there are other dealers. Living in South Florida, we have like 8 dealerships within a 4 hours drive and like 4 within an hour. So, we have more inventory and dealerships to play off each other. Some don't have that luxury.

It is tough to get an Auid near invoice b/c Audi doesn't do Dealer Holdbacks like many brands. I'm sure they are other backdoor incentives but not as big as others (like domestic brands).

They do have a hold back so to speak. If you go to TrueCar.com you will see a factory invoice price and a lower dealer invoice price.

some have posted $500 over invoice as the selling price... but when I was looking Kalifornia was paying at or over sticker...

I do know mine listed @ 45,165
(since they do this nice thing of laminating their stickers and giving them to owners)
and got it for 42,240 so that's roughly 3k off msrp...
but as stated - supply and demand will factor in - open up your search area and see what you can do... good luck...
