Default Help! Squeak sound from upper right speaker

Hi,

I have a 2011 Audi Q5 with Bang & Olufsen sound system. Lately I have noticed a squeaky sound from the upper right speaker (see picture).

It squeaks when playing, but also if i drive over a bump or if i tap on the speaker cover, which makes me suspect that its a loose speaker.

My question is, how do I remove the cover/grill so i can get to tighten it (if possible), do i need to remove the entire door cover, or can I remove only the little cover, hiding the speaker?

Anyone with experience in this procedure? :-)

That's why they call them 'Tweeters'

Sorry...couldn't help myself.

The whole black plastic triangular piece just pops out. A thin trim tool starting at the top works. I had both of them replaced on one of my Qs under warranty because they were the wrong color from the factory, way lighter grey than the rest of the trim. Took about 5 minutes for both sides. New ones matched? Probably a bad batch, there was only one part number.

Looks like the driver's side...left side, not right side?

The squeak usually means loose trim is rubbing. If you go to a craft store (i.e. Michael's) you can buy thin dense foam rubber sheet that is easily cut with a scissor and slipped between the parts to tighten them up. If the fit is really tight, sometimes just dusting it with talc is enough to lubricate it and prevent any squeaks for a long time. Something like a dry PTFE lube spray (big box stores) would also do the trick, and you MIGHT be able to spray that into the area and then polish off what's on the surface, so you don't have to take things apart.

I'm not sure if your car would have air bags in the A-pillars, if it does, goggles are not a bad idea. Just in case.
