Default Q5 Nav add-on later?

So, I searched the forum first, but didn't find an answer to this. If you have a Q5 with the current MMI (the convenience package), it is possible to retrofit Nav?

No I don't thing so.

On top of getting the MMI unit there's also a center console control panel and color driver info panel not to mention it now comes with backup camera and parking assist.

Im sure if you really wanted to and had the time or $$$$ you could do just about anything but by the time you add up the cost of the components and professional install the cost would be the same if not more then getting the factory installed package.

and really, why would you want a nav with 3 or 4 yr old maps ? !?

Look into aftermarket, have seen some in the EU market that got it done...

good luck !

I've been using the aftermarket, non-factory solution with touchscreen added. It also has rear camera which looks factory and has a myriad of media playback options. It also came with maps for the GPS software which is installed on a SD card. I assume the maps and GPS software can be updated easily. I've personally tried the factory NAV but didn't think it's worth the 3k for the package. The aftermarket one costs a lot less and, in my opinion, is far easier to use using touchscreen inputs.

I agree with all of this and ordered the Q5 without the navigation. I have an Garmin LMT3790 that works well, BUT, it drives me nuts needing to put it on the dashboard and running a power cord to the cigarette lighter. I get where the OP is coming from, it would be nice to have something integrated (maybe there is an aftermarket that can be better integrated with the Q5 interior).
