I spent an evening with an X3 and discovered many confusing aspects of the car. The automatic shifter was--strange. The seats were just plain hard and the back seat was so low to the ground that it was impossible for me to sit in the back. The ride was harsh. I asked the dealer to research a tow hitch and they called back and said, more or less, impossible. They wouldn't install it.
Feeling somewhat disappointed, I headed to test drive an Audi Q5. Comfortable, higher level of fit and finish, I could sit in the back seat (particularly with the tilting rear seats) and the 3.0T engine was smooth, powerful and refined.
I am trading in a GL450 (which I have loved--but, want to down size a bit). My 3.0T is at the port, the trailer hittch is being installed and the 3.0T (Prestige, sport pkg) will be delivered next week.
I am a tough critic. While the X3 is a great car--the 2013 Q5 surprised me. The little things like the improved MMI, the interior tweaks and the new engine blew me away.
The only downside is that Audi can't build enough 3.0T's. There are no deals out there and the money factor and residual on the lease are not competitive to the BMW rates. The BMW will lease, easily, for $100/less per month.

X3 pros: 3 spoke wheel, nicer dash and layout, radio buttons, more horsepower, better gas mileage?, faster 0-60, lighter, 4 year maintenance, made in USA, passenger lumbar, larger rear opening, weathertech mats, larger nav screen, $1000 holiday cash, USAA pricing, Spartenburg delivery

Here's a pic of a 2009 from the web. See the arrow buttons on both sides of the return button. Those. You can use those to change your radio station even when not on the radio screen.

They don't exist in 2013+ models after the simplification of the MMI button layout. Instead that functionality was moved and I think that you push the volume **** left and right now? (Can't remember specifically, anyone with a 2013 or better memory who can confirm?)

Unfortunately, it is not that way anymore! These two buttons are gone. They have gone from 11 to seven buttons.

Correct, you now simply push the separate volume control to the right of the shifter, and the stations will change. If you're listening to another media source, this will advance to the next track, song in the jukebox, or chapter of the DVD. I have the MMI plus setup, but I would imagine that I performs the same way relating to the radio functions.
This setup of the separate **** comes in handy, if you're listening to loud music, and the passenger wants to briefly say something. They can press it to mute or simply turn it down a bit.
I love the setup.
