Q5 w/Falken All Terrain Tires
#22
I picked up 18" wheels, take-off's from a 2014 Allroad, and ordered Falken Wilkdpeak AT Trail's in 245/60/18. Overall height, according to tirerack, is 29.7". The reduction in offset, ET25 from ET39, looks great on the front, but the rear still needs some help. I'm thinking 10mm spacers in the rear are next. The ride is great, but there is slightly more tire noise. It's hardly noticeable though, even at highway speeds.

I am pairing them with a set of H&R Adventure rising springs and about a 1" lift.
How have you like the tires so far?

Knuckle clearance?
[QUOTE=OffroadAudiQ5;25494901]
I have a set of Black Rhino 18" rims 5x112 with a -10 offset with 265/65/r18 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac I bought off someone for 40 dollars.. I have the H&R 1" raise springs all the way around, and a 30mm space in the rear with 27mm spacer in the front. Only have a little rubbing at full lock with the streering wheel, but the steering knuckle is clear by a hair. Love the look of it though!

Any way you could send a picture of the knuckle to tire clearance in the front? Love the setup! Also I still don’t totally understand spacers did you use verticals spacers for a lift or horizontal to make a wider stance?

This is mine with 275/55R20 Toyo Open Country A/T II tires, offset in this picture is -25 which is too much offset, the tires are poking out 2" or more. 275/55/20 is too big anyways, it's not going to work, through trial and error, I have determined that coloradoq5 has the largest tires anyone is ever going to put on a Q5 for many other reasons besides that Knuckle design. I lifted mine 2.6" using 40mm lift spacers AND H&R Raising springs, it's still too low because it is a CAR Chassis with a Transaxle in front, 2.5" to 2.6" of lift Kit, my front CV axels are already at 15 deg, which is MAXED OUT, already too steep. Since Q5 is a CAR, 2.5" of lift only brings it up to nearly the stock height of a Q7 or Touareg, and there is no way to do a subframe drop on a Q5 because the front is a Transaxle, not a separate differential like Q7/Touareg/Cayenne.
I ordered 18X8.5 Rims with +12 offset, and will use 25mm wheel adapters giving me a -13 offset, I ordered the same side tires as coloradoq5 but a Highway Tread Firestone Destination LE3 in 265/65R18 OWL. I have the rims, but the tires are backordered. I removed my fender liners because I am going to try and heat & bow the plastic fender liners enough so I have no rubbing at all.
The wrench is 19mm so I had a reference to how close I can get that tire to the Knuckle & adjust the offset in mm accordingly, I'm trying to get the offset as little as possible without rubbing that knuckle.

I meant OffroadAudiQ5 has the largest tires anyone is ever going to put on a Q5. I'm new to this forum so I can't edit it.

preciate all the info shared in this thread! i'll be coming due for tires before the winter and thinking of going with the overland/All-Terrain look myself. based on the measurements given by other members, my plan was to go with a very low offset (somewhere between 0 and -15) 18" wheel, 265-60-18 falken wildpeaks and the H&R lift springs. I know this will not fit under the steering knuckle but should push me out far enough past it to clear. I'm having trouble finding any wheels that fit this spec so i'm assuming i'd need to get some pretty large spacers.
a couple questions for anyone that could assist:
1. Are there any SQ5 running a/t tires & lift?
H&R doesn't show these springs as fitting the SQ5 but i'm assuming they would work given the fact that lowering springs are the same between S/Q5.
Is there anything to look for in running 18s? i know others with sq5 with 18 winter wheel/tire so it's possible...just not sure if all 18s will fit
2. am i asking for trouble running a 25-35mm spacer? i know i could go with 255/55/18 or 245/60/18 and fit under the knuckle, but i kinda like the look of meatier tires pushed out a bit past the body
Any help would be appreciated and if there are any other members with lifted S/Q5, pleas post pics and your specs!
