Default Removing Roof Rails

I've noticed an annoying noise while at highway speeds...I wonder if it's the roof rails?!

How do I remove them?

Hi Jason

Do you mean the fixed roof rails that go front to back above the doors? If you do then it would be weird that they are contributing to noise.

I think you're probably right...

I'm just not sure where the wind noise is coming from.

What might contribute is the cross bars you attach to the roof rails...do you have those cross bars attached to the rails? They do generate wind noise I find...

Guys,

I don't have the cross bars...But, I'm of the belief that it might be something else.

Possibly the sunroof isn't closing all the way?
I'll ask the dealership to review it when I come back for my next service.
I'm about to do a NYC-Cleveland run, to visit clients, and will see how it all behaves while on the road trip.

Can't believe the NBA went to Cleveland last night...should be an interesting business trip while in their town!

Thanks,
Jason

I would definitely focus on the sunroof. Even a minor leak or alignment issue will cause noise. The attached roof rails seem pretty bullet proof at this point while the sunroofs constantly have issues - especially with creaks/noises.
Removing the attached roof rails seems like an easy job but the dealership should not put a rookie on that job. my '12 Q5 went back many times because of new creaks after they removed the roof rails. Once the headliner is removed it seems like it never goes in factory perfect again.

Mirrors are known for whistling. I had this problem before.
