I did not notice this, but usually on cold winter mornings I let the engine idle 2-3 minutes to warm it up a bit. It helps warming a little the transmission fluid, maybe this helps it shift smoother.

I do have, however, a rough downshifting from 2nd to 1st gears, when coming a bit more quickly to a stop. I realized that braking a little bit smoother does take away this rough shifting.

Its not 2nd to 1st. Its more like 4 to 3 or 5 to 3. I have the same issue when braking suddenly, but i can see what gear I'm in on display( dealer changed mine) The tranny doesnt downshift to 1st gear until you are completely stopped. The 8 spd hold gears much longer than u would think. When u brake suddenly the tranny will sometimes downshift 2 gears 7/5...5/3 ect. causing the rough shift. Well documented with my dealer but Audi likes to incorporate engine braking. Its the software programming thats the issue.

Do you have to remove the trans to install this?

I don't understand how a mount would help. Its in the electronics, torque converter locking, fluid viscosity , gears adaptation, and what not. I can see if under acceleration and the drivetrain shakes violently because the stock mount has more than an inch to wiggle around. Then a tighter tolerance mount will help.
This reminds me back in the days when we buy motor mount inserts to keep the engine from moving. Oh the vibration it makes ya feel numb.
Anyhow, I have the hard shift from 2nd-3rd all the time. Waiting for warmer weather to change the fluid.

I have no idea about why but since I installed the 034 mount the gear shifts are improved. Not buttery good but much better than the rough shifts when I first had the car!
