Depends on the facia. Those like the S-Line need minor cutting of the existing removable facia. It comes with marking on the inside to show where to cut. Those without the removable insert need to have the bumper cover cut.

This one would need cutting the bumper cover:
Note aftermarket low hitch installed instead. It hangs way down.

This one only the insert needs trimming.
Insert removed:

Insert trimmed, factory hitch, or factory style (ebay) hitch:

Execuhitch hands down. Much less expensive than OEM and it actually is invisible when removed.

I was facing the same thing for the same reason, and ended up going with the OEM Audi hitch. Then I took the valence piece and trimmed it so that it fits nicely around the hitch for a clean look. Finished it off with an OEM hitch cap, and it looks the part!

Sorry for the garbage photo - I took this in the garage and had to lighten it up in Photoshop:

Very clean. I am hoping my Hidden Hitch comes out similarly clean. We shall see.

Thanks for the photos this helps with the decision. I'm check-out the Execuhitch option as well.

We went with the Execuhitch. My wife was quite unhappy with the possibility of a "viewable" trailer hitch. Just a simple panel removal, pop on the ball mount and you are in business. There was a great set of posts about it on this forum at:

https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...di-q5-2866342/

When the ball mount is removed and the panel is replaced (simple two screw deal) you cannot tell there is a hitch. We prefer it that way, as we only tow occasionally.

+1. Great hitch, relatively easy install and invisible when not needed.

Installed mine today. I am very happy with my $265 hitch that includes wiring.

So this is the hidden hitch? Do you have the part # for it. I want a hitch for an occasional bike rack as well. The price seems right on this unit
