Trade now, later or hold long-term?

If your current driving habits aren’t going to change much (approx. 4k miles per yr.) I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Even if you were to keep the vehicle for another 7 yrs. you’d still be under 50k miles for a vehicle that would be over 10 yrs. old.
Age catches up with everything so I would expect little things over the next 7 yrs. but as long as you’re doing the maintenance and not beating on the vehicle you shouldn’t have any major problems. I’d set aside 7.5-10k for “What if’s” (not normal wear/tear/maintenance) and if you eat through that determine if it’s time to invest a little more or punt it.

"Trade value was spot on to the Kelly Blue Book value online, and I was able to bring that up some in negotiations because my Q5 was low mileage"
i once had a major disagreement with my insurer who said "Your car is over nine years old so there is no book value for it" and, happily, I actually got the published of that book on the phone. His reaction? "Tell them to READ the front of the book, we're very clear about condition and MILEAGE both being adjusted for all vehicles, the book price of your car is ##### based on the condition and mileage, the year does not matter. And have them call me directly if they can't understand how to read."
If you were given a value that IGNORED actual mileage and condition? You were being cheated, and not by accident. Every horse trader knows this.
