I would go with this one from ECS. Same engine. It worked out for me going with the b9 s4/s5 dipstick for the SQ5. It doesn't say it will fit, but it does.

I guess my point was that a normal dipstick will work without interfering with anything. The oil level sensors for the MMI technology are nothing new and dipsticks have always worked with them.

I picked up this one for my car. It DOES NOT fit. It's too long, doesn't fit all the way into the port and reads too high. 15 bucks won't break me so it was worth a shot. I may try the "D" version.

How u remove the locking plug without breaking it? Do u use 2 small screwdrivers to bend out the tabs and pull out ?? Also is there a centrain orientation as where it sits is not a perfect circle .....

Thanks for this. Other mentioned dipsticks are NOT the best fit.

Default OE plug reusable?

I just want to use a extractor for oil changes. I don't mind using the MMI for oil level. I don't really need a stick.
So is the plug reusable? It just pull out??
Thank you.

Might just be the angle of the photo but I’m not sure that is the right plug for oil changes. Maybe someone else can confirm

to answer your question, yes you can reuse the plug just check the condition of the o-rings. If they look worn or cracked consider replacing them.

Another reason to have a dipstick. I was changing the oil this weekend and was using the MMI to double check the dip stick I have. Between this and the messages to wait...., I am finding the MMI not very helpful. After I let the car sleep, the MMI finally worked again and showed 1/4 short between min and max after I filled to the point where the dip stick showed full. A bit later, the MMI caught up and showed full. If I had been using only the MMI, I would have overfilled by 1/4 Liter.
The one I have is from ECS -$60. Odd that it still says it doesn't fit our SQ5, but it does and is right on.

(color me skeptical) VW 06K115611D is the part number for a conventional dipstick (not the tool). Have a 2020 Q5 with 2.0t., approx. 225 miles on it, so it has the factory oil fill. Was changing the oil for a friend today on a 2015 Passat 1.8t; tried the Passat dipstick in the Q5 (pulled the plug from the tube and stuck it in), dead nuts on the money, oil up to the top of the hash marks on the dipstick. Yellow handle on the Passat dipstick has part # 06K115611D embossed on it. Both engines are EA888 family Gen 3.

I say "color me skeptical" because I put a different dipstick (VW p # 06J115611E) in a 2013 A4 Quattro 2.0t (same plug in dipstick tube), and left it in there; never had any issues. Had a 2016 Jetta 1.8t that came with a dipstick. Now the 2020 Q5 2.0t, no dipstick. All engines are EA888 family, not sure of the
generation on the A4 engine, but the 2015 Passat, the 2016 Jetta, and 2020 Q5 are definitely Gen 3.

Local Audi dealership person was talking about a tool the techs use, but couldn't come up with the part number. Suspect tool he was referencing was T40178 which is a dipstick with sliding sleeve for top stop. This tool is designed to be used with multiple engines, hence the sliding top stop to adjust the length of the dipstick going into the tube. Slider has a knurled set screw. Slider is attached with a chain to the dipstick so they don't become separated; suspect this chain may be where the reference to contact with moving parts came from. Suspect local Audi dealership parts guy is only aware of the tool because that's the only dipstick his techs use, and he doesn't have any experience/training outside of Audi. Need to grill Audi dealer parts guy further asking if the chain is the issue for the statement not to leave the tool in the engine.
rkelsey1,

To dig up your three year old post, I've been searching for a few hours on this subject and I can't believe this is the only post that mentions having personal experience and a part number for a perfect fitting and reading dipstick for the 2019-up Q5 2.0T. Usually this info would propagate over a few years on the internet. It's a shame there was no further discussion.

I'm looking at a 2019 Q5 2.0T and would like to add a dipstick. I don't know all of the variations of the Q5 or its engines for that matter, but research seems to indicate that 2019 and 2020 have identical 2.0Ts while differences in earlier versions are enough to suspect issues with parts swapping in many areas. It is odd that the 2015 Passat version of this engine, being transverse, different chassis, etc would have virtually the same dipstick and tube length to the oil level, even if it is just the full mark that lines up (maybe the low line is not accurate to whatever volume it is designed to indicate is short?) Generally speaking, transverse vs longitudinal versions of the same engine family often have different dipstick setups.

Do you have any new insights on the use of the 06K115611D dipstick (06K-115-611-D for future search use) in your 2020 Q5 2.0T? Did you end up buying one?

Thank you!

I have a 2018 S Q5 and I’ve been running the ECS dipstick. And I haven’t had it in there for a couple weeks and I haven’t had any problems.
