Default Remote Start

I am thinking about adding remote start to my 2018 SQ5, and I am wondering what the most popular options are for an aftermarket system that works with the factory key fob. Let me know what folks are using.

If money is no issue: 12voltsolutions. Similar but cheaper: Fortin Evo-All with Audi harness. Know that both require key sacrifice. I use the Fortin paired with their long range remote as the OEM key range is too short for me, love it.

If you have an anti-theft insurance, I would recommend to consult with them as adding a remote start might render it void. At least over here Audi provides an anti-theft insurance with every new vehicle purchase, but I was warned that installing a remote start would void it because you're effectively leaving a key always in your car.

You can buy the same system and install yourself. It’s not too difficult.

I use mine often

When you say "the same system", are you referring to an Audi OEM system or one of the others previously mentioned?

Thanks,
Mark

I am trying to figure out the difference between the Fortin Evo-All and the Evo-One. Does anyone know what is really different?

To the best of my knowledge, Audi does not have a remote start system. You need a third party one. But that might have changed in the past few years.

As far as I know, there isn’t an OEM system.

I use the Compustar kit with Audi T-harness. About $400 cad for everything.

Does the Compustar remote start use the OEM key fob or a separate remote?

3 pushes of the lock button on the factory remote.
