I have 2018 Q7 and need to replace the rear wiper arm. However, The cover over the nut is not coming off and I am afraid to apply to much pressure. Is there a good way to do this without causing damage or should I just pry it off and not worry about the damage because I have a new arm.

That plastic cover just clips over the metal framing in order to 'hold-on' tight. It is fairly easy to remove if you use the old VW fastener/clip 'push-in first' method (to remove pressure on the holding clip), then pry outwards on base of the cover so you can remove it w/o breaking the securing tabs off it. IIRC, I used a smallish nylon trim removal tool to get under the edge and then that cover was up/off in a jiffy...no problemo.

Also, check if the new arm you bought includes that plastic cover...mine did, but it was kind of hidden in the packaging. I marked the correct resting position of the wiper arm/blade on the glass with tape prior to removing the old arm, which made it easy to align the new arm during install.
