Problem: iPod reinitializing
Does anyone here have the problem - either after getting back into the car and starting it up, or even, at times, in the middle of driving, where the iPod has to "re-initialize" and begin playing the songs from alphabetical order?
My iPod works fine, and I assume that the AMI connector wire is faulty and/or there is some MMI software glitch.
Anyone else have something similar?

Had the same thing...
with my ipod using my alpine system in my A8, but not with the Dension 500 in my Q7. Thus, I suspect it may not be the ipod but the AMI. Best advice is to update your ipod with latest software and reload all your music and see if it helps. Also, disable all the contacts management stuff etc. Mine is now fine for the time being with occasional problems with the Alpine.

Reinitializing and song sequence issue
I hsve tried three different iPods in my car (I have had the AMI since March). I too have occasional reinitializations for no apparent reason. One problem I have noticed is that when I when I drill down to an artist and play a song from an album, the song name matches the song being played. But when I choose "all" from a given artist, I get a different song than what I see as being selected.
It is not a problem with the iPod (I have this problem on any of the 3 iPods I have tried) because when I play all with headphones on, all is fine. Same when I go into iTunes to see what is going on. I have done the wipe out and reloading of songs, updated software route, etc....but still the same problem.
Any experience this before?

I am now experiencing the problem, but have determined that is because the iPod is not being charged when the car is turned off and it remains running until the battey dies. A quick check would be the next time you see the initializing screen remove the ipod and see if it stays on .... I bet the batter shows low
