Q7 mmi not quite dead?
I have an 2007 q7 premium s line and the mmi is intermittently working. It will power up and boot you can change through the different menus but it usually just says "please wait" until it powers down. The navigation will occasionally load its startup menu asking for your country/zip but as soon as you select the country it locks up. I can get it to load the car menu but whenever I change an option it immediately reverts as soon as I back out of the menu and the clock will not stay set. Also no matter what menu or selection I make the system shuts off after about 1 min. I pulled the center control board and it checks out fine, it has a new battery in it and the PO replaced the amplifier mainboard. I have an optic loop on the way to start testing modules but I'm not sure communications is the problem. Not sure if they're related but I also have no control over the menus on the instrument cluster display, the steering wheel buttons do nothing but the paddle shifters and horn still work. Anyone have any Ideas on what the issue could be or where to start testing.

Scan it with ODBeleven. See what it tells you. It could be as simple as the memory for the firmware is a bit corrupted that it hangs and could be fixed by updating. Could be a bad complement in circuit board. A scan will hopefully lead you in some direction though.

I ordered an obdeleven so its on its way, in he mean time I found the cd changer was dead. I replaced it with a second hand part and the system stays on for longer now but still has the same problem. I guess I'm stuck waiting on my obdeleven for now.
