I am a new owner of a 2014 TDI, but the second owner on the title. Does VW pay both parties the same? My interpretation is that I qualify for the $7000-$16,000 payment plus remedy.
Looking for some clarification. Thanks.
You need to read the details carefully. I'm in the exact opposite position as you. In this case, you get the buyback or repair AND one half of the cash compensation and the former owner gets the other half of the compensation. See the link to the PDF I posted just above and find the compensation tables.

The other thing to note, is that as of now we "Gen 2" owners are NOT getting a buy-back. We are getting restitution after the fix - unless the fix is not provided my the deadline in November +\-

I have almost $20,000 in aftermarket upgrades to my G1 Q7, I think I'd have to take the fix and the compensation

You could move all those mods to a gasoline or post fix Gen2 TDI with the additional compensation and still come out ahead. I do understand though. Ours is pure stock except good memories. We will keep it till the last month of the buyback period. I thought I would keep it and take the fix but the buyback is too good a deal to pass up.

This isn't my wife asking is it ?
I'm in Canada so my 20 is about 16 for you Americans lol.
So my list is
KW V3 full adjustable Coilovers
Stoptech Big Brake upgrade including Cryotreated slotted rotors
Niche Custom built and coloured three piece 22's with 315 rears and 265 front tires
Modified rear wheel wheels to fit tires
Full satin white pearl wrap
Carbon fibre exterior accents

Wheels alone were 13,000 of that

I want to do a turbo upgrade and custom tune, I'm hunting for the 350hp range

two reasons, the first being the factory pads were horrible for dust and the second is it actually stops considerably better now.
