Default Today I learned that I can't put XM radio in my Q7.

I have XM in my A4 so it would have been less expensive to just add another vehicle to my account. I could not order XM when I ordered my Q7 (Sirius only) but planned to install the A8 XM unit like others here have done. So, I ordered the A8 XM unit but the dealer determined it can't be installed. Apparently the XM unit requires two antennna wires and the Sirius unit only has one. My Q7 (built in November) only has one antenna wire so it can only use the Sirius unit. Q7s with earlier build dates did come with two satelite radio antenna wires but not anymore. The owner of the dealership also ordered an A8 XM unit for his new S8 and they ran into the exact same problem on his car yesterday.

Can't you just run a new antenna? XM has a micro antenna that you could just mount under the dash.

I think it is more complicated than that...the antenna probably connects to the MMI as well.

Default Someone from the A4 B7 forum may have a solution......

A guy tried to install XM in his 07 A4 and it only had a single antenna input. Someone suggested using a Terk Splitter model "SIR SP". This will split your one antenna into 2 for the module. There is an XM part for this too, XMSP

I hope this will solve the problem, as my A8 XM receiver just arrived yesterday and I was hoping to install it in my November built Q7<ul><li><a href="http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&amp;storeId=10001&a mp;productId=14990&amp;langId=-1">Here is a link for the XM part</a></li></ul>

Default I installed an A8 Sirius module and had 2 antenna jacks on the module but only one antenna in the Q7

The satellite radio works and sounds fine but I get an antenna error warning for 2 seconds when switching to satellite. I wonder if the splitter will fix that.

Default I don't know why Audi would limit these kinds of options. I was able to get XM, but

I have to wait to get the AMI retrofitted. Adding these options should not be such a pain.

Default I purchased the SIR-SP and it didn't fit the Audi connectors on the antenna or module

I wonder if the XM splitter doesn't fit either.

Default Before giving up, you gotta try the Radio Shack route...

I once had a dealer tell me that they couldn't complete some wiring (different car) because they discovered the connections didn't match.

Since they'd already installed the wiring (the part of the install that convinced me to use them instead of DIY'ing it), I just went to Radio Shack and tried different mating connectors until I found the right one.

I'd be very surprised if these are unique connections.

Good luck!
