@ncnmra What kind of mileage were you getting with your 212X?

I towed our AR190 to FL and back last month. Got 12.95mpg (hand calculated) average over 2,100 miles with the boat attached. Had a high of 14.1mpg in FL, and a low of 11.8mpg in PA/WV area. Similar loading, but without the roof box. 2 adults, 2 kids, and the boat packed with "beach vacation crap", usually set the cruise around 70-73mph. Only broke 75mph once, and was rarely below 55 on the interstate.

Default 60905 Still the way?

Hi all,

Long time admirer, just checking in to see if the people who installed 60905 are still happy with their setup?

I popped two of them going up a grade and at first I thought maybe it was incorrect installation since one kept dropping in pressure. But I think it was due to altitude increasing the pressure inside?

Anyone else experience this?

wanted to check before I install another pair if the 905 is till the way to go instead of 902.

Also I called airlift about the problem and they said their bags are not compatible with Audi cars because of the cylindrical nature where the Audi shocks are progressive?

Any other thought anyone may have is greatly appreciated.

towing with a 2019 Q8 6500lb trailer with 650lb tongue.

Cheers!

I have the 902 set that still seems to be working as advertised for what it’s worth. 2017 Audi Q7. Not perfect but it helps.

if I was to start over I would go with 905 and based on what others have experienced following this suggestion it seems that's the best choice.

I don't tow very often but after the sag issues towing my M3 last year, and me getting the dynamic + springs this year. I got the 60905 kit and installed it for my upcoming trip. It was a royal bitch, I actually ended up removing the springs, and used a jack handle to actually push it through, with a lot of words of encouragement.

I cut the nipple off the top insulator, and space wise it's basically spot on.

Routed the lines to come just out of the plastic guards

Pumped up to 6psi when not in use, but oh my are they effing noisy as hell. I just hear the constant rubbing ,could be the low pressure but they're definitely getting cut out after my trip, as I don't need them through pretty much the entire year and removing them without cutting is probably going to be close to impossible

Interesting. I believe I installed the 60900 kit. I was able to do it without disassembling anything, but I did trim off the sharp point on the upper spring mount. I also installed the circular spacers on the top and bottom. I don't get any rubbing sounds either when inflated or not. I think the 60905 are wider and much taller, which makes sense that you struggled to install them. My kit works, but it could be better and I suspect the sizing makes a difference.

60900 - 3" x 5.5"
60905 - 3.44" x 8.75"

It could be specific to the 034 springs too as I believe everyone that posted here is on factory springs.

But they are definitely tight in the spring. They can move up and down so they're not "stuck" but you need to push them down, in order to get them to move.

With these springs the 60905 kit fit perfectly height wise, there is actually not much room for a spacer, even their thin one.

I did buy the 60904 kit too but it was a lot shorter, same width basically, so I opted to do the 60905.

If I was doing this on the regular, I'd definitely be looking into another kit. Removing these in one piece will be close to impossible, sucks but it is what it is. Hoping tell at least do what I need them to for my trip

I see that a lot of those using the AirLift bags have Q7’s that are 2019 or older. Anyone using them in a 2021 Q7 with stock springs? Those who have, is it the 905 that fits best or a different size?

I intend to crawl under the vehicle tomorrow to measure, but nothing replaces real world experience!

Has anyone tried the Curt Rockerball with a heavy trailer? I've got one I'm using with a light utility trailer, a Go Easy, and whether it's empty (350 lbs) or loaded (1000 lbs), the back and forth rocking is a lot better. It acts as a damper.

I'm planning on picking up a 23' Airstream (the largest the Q7 is rated to tow), and am thinking about the Rockerball for that. I'd like to use the Air Safe hitch, but it weighs a hundred pounds and extends the hitch ball six inches, so that's a non starter. Shocker looks like it has a much more compact shock absorbing hitch and puts the ball 10.5" from the pin. Whoops...the Shocker wants to bounce against the bottom of the hitch receiver, and Audi puts the chain loops there. That's a no go. Bummer. Might be limited to the Rockerball.

Towed a decent sized travel trailer with my TDi and really missed the air suspension. My Cayenne, and our new to us Q7 has air, specifically for towing.

I tow a 7,000lb travel trailer with the 9Y0 Cayenne S with air suspension using a Husky Round Bar WD hitch, friction sway control and Tekonsha Prodigy P3 wired controller.

Full confidence, an excellent setup.
