Default C-Pillar deformation Safety Recall

Got this in the mail today for 2020 Q7. Funny thing is it was address to my wife. I'll probably do like I have about the last 1/2 dozen or so recalls for my other vehicles, and ignore it.

Help me out here. Why wouldn't you have a recall accomplished? They're no charge and correct an identified issue with the vehicle. Plus, at least at my dealer, you get a no-charge current year loaner for the time your vehicle is being corrected so you are out nothing except maybe your time to travel to the dealer. My recollection is you've mentioned that you live in SJC, where I happened to work for 30+ years (I lived in Los Gatos), so you're not exactly in the boondocks and many miles away from an authorized Audi dealer (as I recall there is one on Stevens Creek Blvd.)

In my case, I'll get it done once I need to have the car in there for other reasons. Given a 45 min distance from my dealer and the relatively insignificant level of risk, I see no real rush.

I take your point. In my mind, there is a difference between deferring a recall correction that is of a lower level of risk (your situation) and completely ignoring a recall (the OP's stance). My post was in response to the latter circumstance.

I never said I didn't allow a dealer to so SOME of the recalls. Re-read what I wrote in the OP, and then maybe apologize for GROSSLY misquoting me.

I decide if and when I'll have a dealer do a recall. Since next spring I'm due for the 1 yr maintenance, I'll consider having them do any updates and/or recalls since I'll be dropping the car off for a while.

1. I don't want to get into a contest, but I did not misquote your post. As your quote above shows, you said you'd probably ignore the recall, as you did for the last 1/2 dozen or so recalls involving your other vehicles. I don't see anything in the quote about deferring the fix.

2. Any fair reading of your quote certainly suggests that your customary stance is to ignore recalls. If that wasn't what you intended, it's not the fault of the reader for getting that impression from the post.

3. As I pointed out upthread, deferral of recall corrective action until a need arises to bring the vehicle to the dealer for other service is a reasonable strategy, to be made on a case by case basis.

I have gotten more than 6 recall notices over the years, so ignoring about 6 of them is not to say I haven't taken my vehicles in for fixes. I have done at least 4. Stop with the baseless argumentation as your keep presuming things that aren't true.

Do u think recalls just began a year ago? I'm 72 and have seen a LOT of recalls over the years. I often own 3 vehicles at the same time, for long periods of time.

😂 OK. Good luck with the recall if you decide to get it. Cheers.
