This does not look to be mechanical and as long as you wear your seatbelt. I think I'll wait until Spring. Try to minimize who crawls around in my car these days and can then get the more pressing maintenance done at the same time

since is a safety recall. You're obligated to do it, otherwise DMV won't re-register your vehicle. Dealer confirmed that.

??? I've not gotten every safety recall performed in my other vehicles, unless a speed control (or throttle--I forget) recall on F150's isn't considered safety. I've never had an issue getting my California vehicles' registrations renewed and there have been many, since I often own 3 vehicles at a time.

I don't know which state bob is referring to.

I live in california, and I have had a DMV renewal notice come with a statement that it would not be renewed without a particular EMISSIONS related recall being performed and proof provided with the payment. It was a 2012 Audi A3, and the recall had to do with new firmware for the fuel pump . I provided proof (a form filled out by the dealer), and received my registration from the DMV. The next year, I got the exact same note. Thank goodness, I made copies of the form the previous year anticipating this sort of gross incompetence from the california DMV.

I did the safety recall today and it took the dealer 30 minutes to replace the deform element. Seems to be no big deal to replace the deform element.
