Coding to allow Nav input while driving?

Sorry if this posted somewhere, but I have been unable to find it if it has. I just picked up my 2018 Q7 last week and noticed today that I could not write an address with the touchpad while the car was moving (that was not available). The voice command doesn't always work well, so I would like to be able to input manually. On my 2012 Q7 TDI (that I sold back to Audi), I was able to recode with VCDS to allow for inputting while moving without even a warning message. Is that possible with the 2018 Q7?

Interesting. My 2017 Q7 allows touchpad writing in motion out of the box. Perhaps enabling Video in Motion would also fix that for you. OBD11 has an app for that.

There was a change that disabled input while in motion, so yes many of you are able to while newer owners cannot.

Yes, playing more with it today, I can input some things into the nav fields while driving, but I am locked out of certain functions while moving that makes things a bit awkward.
I would try activating VIM if there was a way to do that with VCDS/VAG. I hate to have to spend another $80+ on OBD11 when I already have the VCDS cable, etc from my previous car. Everything I would want to change, aside from VIM, I've already done, so it is hard to justify getting the OBD11 also.

If VIM can be activated by OBD11, why can't it be done through VCDS? (Or am I missing something, and it has indeed been accomplished?)

Hopefully, future software updates will not remove the ability to use the touchpad for nav entry while moving. Has anyone had, then lost, this feature?
