Not happy.

I noticed that in the beginning of ownership the exhaust tips were really dirty, so at 2,000 miles I cleaned them. Haven't had to clean them since, and now I'm wondering if the oil consumption occurred during break in period. We are taking it in for an oil change and some issues to be looked at (excessive seat wear, possible supercharger clutch problems, along with a few squeaks and rattles).
Empty to full on the bar graph only represents 1 L, which means that the car is only using a quart every 10k mi. Let alone that it was during break in.

I am going to mention it to the dealership service manager when we bring it in on Saturday. NONE of my family's cars did this in the past. And what is quite bad, is that it seems to be a common issue.

As most people on this forum will attest, in the past, oil consumption was really only an issue for really old engines or blown seals, rings or other mechanical issues. Or maybe it only seemed that way, as we were taught to change the oil every 3,000 miles. I'm in the same group, so imagine my surprise when I asked that question at my MB dealer after loosing about a quart in 10K, I was told it's normal. MB considers it normal consumption of oil about a quart every 600 miles !!!

Guess what, Audi considers it normal for 0.5 quart to be consumed in 600 miles !!!

AND, guess what, IT'S IN THE MANUAL !!! (P. 322):

Topped 0.5l @14K km, after almost 13K driven, no change in oil level. So at least for 3.0 TDI oil consumption seems not to be an issue.
