Nope... if you finance and find the vehicle through their search service, they will finance it. You don't buy through USAA. I talked to them about it and when I was going to do the financing I told them exactly the car I was going to buy and they did the search through their service... as long as they can find it in the system and tag it you will get the reduced rate. And then you deal through the dealership.

So there are no USAA/Truecar certified dealers in our Zip code. Any ideas of how to still get this to work for the extra 1/2% discount on the 2.25% with our dealer?

The dealer offered me 1.68% or somewhere around that. I wanted 1%, or cash.
So I paid cash!

Why would you drop $60k in cash when they are basically giving you money?!? You can find easy returns well over 1.6% and effectively make money on that loan...

And Lightstream will beat that rate by 10 basis points, so it would be 1.64% for up to 65 months. The nice thing about Lightsteam will do an unsecured loan, so you will hold title on the car from Day 1...

Check out Penfed.org for some good options. Including their payment saver loan. Works like a lease, but it's a balloon.
