Luxury Package only 3,750.00 CAD in Canada
#11
I was recently at the 2016 Montreal Auto Show and I was talking to a person who worked for a local Mercedes-Benz dealer. She said it is very common for American people to purchase Canadian spec vehicles and import them to the US because it ends up being cheaper even after taxes. On Audi.ca , all of their models are better priced once converted. The base A3 is around $25k USD once converted from CAD. a fully loaded 2017 Q7 prestige with B&O sound, air suspension, luxury package, etc... tops out for $92k CAD... converted thats about $67k USD. crazy! plus it's an S-Line! I feel like its too good to be true!

From what I remember, the Canadian Dollar has never been equal to 1.6 USD.

Yes, people used to purchase vehicles and import them to Canada when it was cheaper for Canadians. I live on a border town and the local dealers actually sold quite a few vehicles to Canada each year. Not much at all anymore. Most Canadian models are "Ok" to be imported to the US because they are similar to a model sold here. The 2017 Q7 should have no problem unless there is something different with emissions or structuarally different. Which I doubt. The times when people run into issues is when they want to import vehicles that were never offered in the USA. Such as the the Mercedes B-Classe. Canada got that model, USA did not. So therefore it can't be imported unless the USA purchaser wants to pay to have it crash tested and emissions tested. Which would be a waste of money.

On the issue of the Luxury Package being lower priced in Canada, it's not clear from the Audi Canada website whether the Luxury Package in Canada includes the extended leather on the doors and the center console, as well as the Alcantara headliner. It simply mentions the Valcona leather seats, massage function, and soft close doors. While I'm not arguing that the Luxury Package is a good deal in the USA, I'm just pointing out that the Canadian price may not be a good comparison.
That said, with the exchange rate differences, I do agree that a comparably equipped Q7 is about 15% less expensive in Canada.

This is pretty common. With my recently traded 2014 MDX, we couldn't get things that were available in Canada, such as power folding mirrors and things we could get varied greatly in price.

Great info. Canada seems to get all of the good options. S-Line Q7! New Q3 has black optics package, it looks way better. Better rim choices across the Audi model lineup. USA gets screwed out of all of the good options. :-( even with the 2.5% plus sales tax it's still a better deal. Only issue is some USA dealers don't take vehicles with speedometer clusters in kilometers on trade in, so that could effect trade in issues when it comes time to sell the vehicle.
